My Thoughts – 9.17.08

Posted by briantabor on September 17, 2008

Here are some of my random thoughts on a warm fall day.

I think that most people should think, edit and even pray before they hit send on an email. Too many people get hurt by not talking face to face.

I think that today would be an absolutely perfect day to be lying on the beach. More specifically, Fort Myers Beach, FL with Kim by my side, preparing to go to the Bubble Room for dinner just after the sun sets.

I think that Qdoba is seriously over rated. I know I am probably in the minority but I really don’t share or understand the fascination.

I think that the sliders at Harry & Izzy’s are amazing. I will be blogging about those on Friday.

I think that really good friends are hard to find. I don’t mean people you talk with occasionally, I mean people you can really talk about messy stuff with.

I think that I am blessed with some of those kinds of friends and that makes me grateful.

I think that I am excited about fall and the weather changing. That means a trip to Brown County, IN with my wife and a great day at the park. It also means that my wife will rock her famous pumpkin bread and that makes me smile!

I think that I am seriously excited about heading to Evansville for the Fall Festival in October. Serious food for serious eaters!

I think that pickles are gross.

I think that Saturday Night Live has seen better days.

I think that I could easily spend an entire day watching videos on YouTube and laughing hilariously.

I think that ice cream is one of the greatest things ever!

My Thoughts – 7.10.08

Random thoughts on a summer day in Indiana.

I still think that my wife Kim is the most amazing woman. (1) She tolerates the silly stuff that I do; (2) She still makes my heart skip a beat when she walks into a room; (3) When she sings I still get chills; and, (4) She loves to experience life and I love that about her.

I think it is very humid.

I think that adults should get summer vacation. Wouldn’t that be awesome? Three months off….I want to find every student I can and tell them to take advantage while they can!

I think that the Indiana Pacers are on the right track with the moves they have made. I also think they need to make a few more deals. It’s time that these grown men who are being paid unbelievable sums of money had to stand up and account for their behavior.

I think that toasted ravioli could quite possibly be the perfect food.

I think that people attempt to do way too many things while driving. As I drive to work it appears that for many folks, driving their car is maybe #3 or 4 on the priority list.

I think that this time of transition at church is effecting my ability to sleep at night. I’m working to trust but it is simply a very unsettling time.

I think that directing our church choir is a total blast!

I think that we are blessed to get to sing some amazing worship songs these days. There are some really gifted writers out there that are working on their craft in amazing ways. People like Paul Baloche, Brenton Brown, Lincoln Brewster, Travis Cottrell and many others. It’s an exciting time to be in worship ministry.

I think grilling steaks is an awesome experience. The other night I grilled filets and topped them with crumbled bacon and blue cheese. It rocked.

I think that Indianapolis is a very cool place to live. I especially enjoy living in Hamilton County and more specifically, Fishers. Great shopping, parks and restaurants. It feels like home to me.

I think that the Lord has GREAT plans for our friends Troy and Shari Hochstetler (pictured here with their daughter Kyla). They have tremendous gifts in ministry and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with them. Working with Troy has been a real highlight for me. He brings tremendous insight and creativity to preaching, teaching and ministry. God has great things in store for this special couple and I look forward to seeing countless lives impacted by their ministry. As they leave to lead another body of believers our prayers go with them.

I think that it’s time to end!

My First Blog – Thoughts…..

Posted by briantabor on June 18, 2008

I think that my wife is the most amazing woman on the planet. She rocks my world and most of the time she doesn’t even realize it. The way she laughs, the way she walks, the way she LOVES food, the way she plays with her hair when she’s deep in thought….I love it all. Nearly every day she teaches me more about how to pursue God and love people. She’s the total package and I am blessed beyond words.

I think I need to play more golf. As I sit here today, I am not a gifted golfer. There was a time when I could play but it’s gotten lost in the day to day of life, business & ministry and I really miss it. I am going to play more this year.

I think that dogs are awesome…..especially my dog, Sophie!

I think that people who serve us or do things for us deserve our respect. People who bring us food in a restaurant, the guy who cuts our grass, the people who take care of our cars…those who serve us deserve more respect from us. Just because we pay them doesn’t mean we get a free pass to be annoying or disrespectful.

I think the Cardinals need better pitching….really, how long can they expect these guys to keep delivering? Spend some cash or make a trade for pete’s sake.

I think the Colts could be really, really good again this year. No bold predictions yet but I think they will be a force.

I think the Church of Jesus Christ needs to take a long hard look in the mirror, form a new ministry paradigm, scrap some traditions and take the world for Jesus.

I think that family and friends are invaluable and I need to spend more time pouring myself into both.

I think that I am going to spend more time getting to know my neighbors this summer because I can’t reach them if I don’t spend time with them.

I think that I need to stop writing until next time….until then, I hope that I live with NO Regrets!
